Therapeutic approach - Hyderabad & Online India
CBT, ACT, somatic therapy & trauma-informed care tailored to you
My approach is integrative , drawing from multiple evidence-based frameworks to build therapy that responds to your unique needs, context, culture and pace. No fixed protocol. No one size fits all programme.
The methods I draw from as a counselling psychologist
No single framework works for every person. I'm trained in several approaches and combine them guided by what each individual needs at each stage of their work.
PERSON CENTRED THERAPY
The relationship is the foundation
Before techniques, there is the quality of the connection between us. Person-centred therapy holds that people heal within relationships of genuine warmth, empathy and unconditional positive regard. Every other method I use rests on this foundation.
CBT - COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY
Understanding thought feeling behavior patterns
CBT therapy explores how thoughts, emotions and behaviours influence each other and how shifting one can create space for change. It provides practical, structured tools. Particularly effective for anxiety therapy, depression therapy and stress management.
ACT - ACCEPTANCE & COMMITMENT THERAPY
Building a meaningful life alongside difficulty
ACT therapy develops psychological flexibility the ability to hold difficult thoughts and feelings without being controlled by them, taking action guided by what genuinely matters. Particularly helpful for anxiety, chronic stress and feeling stuck.
TRAUMA - INFORMED THERAPY · CCTP-II
Safety first always
Trauma changes how the nervous system functions. Trauma-informed therapy prioritises safety, choice and control never pushing before you're ready. I hold CCTP-II certification the highest level of clinical trauma professional credential , working with PTSD, complex trauma and intergenerational trauma.
SOMATIC THERAPY & NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION
Healing through the body, not just the mind
Somatic therapy uses body awareness, breath and nervous system regulation to support healing that talk therapy alone cannot reach. Particularly valuable for trauma therapy, anxiety therapy and grief counselling where emotions are stored in the body as much as the mind.
EXISTENTIAL . MINDFULNESS . STRENGTH BASED
Meaning, identity and what you already carry
Existential approaches explore identity, meaning and belonging. Mindfulness supports present-moment awareness. Strengths-based work pays attention to your resources and capacities not only what's difficult. Especially relevant for self-esteem therapy and NRI identity work.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THERAPY
How the therapeutic process unfolds
Every person is different, but here's a general sense of how therapy at Priva Counselling develops in-person in Hyderabad or via online therapy.
01
Discovery - finding our footing
The first session is exploration, not assessment. We discuss what brings you to therapy, what you hope to work on, and how you're experiencing life right now. I'll share how I work and we'll get a sense of whether working together feels right. This is also when I begin to understand how to tailor the therapeutic approach to you specifically.
02
Understanding - making sense of the patterns
Over early sessions we deepen understanding of what's getting in the way, where it comes from, and what you're really longing for beneath the presenting concern. We may draw on CBT frameworks, trauma-informed inquiry or narrative exploration depending on what best fits. This phase builds the foundation everything else rests on.
03
Working - building and practicing change
With insight comes the possibility of doing things differently. This phase combines emotion-focused exploration with practical skill-building CBT tools, ACT exercises, somatic techniques or nervous system regulation practices. Sessions may be structured or exploratory, depending on what you need. Progress is never linear and that's entirely normal.
04
Integration - carrying it forward
Therapy isn't meant to last forever. The goal is for what you've learned and experienced to become part of how you navigate the world outside it. We review progress regularly, adjust our focus as you evolve, and know together when the work feels complete. The ending of therapy is itself part of the therapeutic process.
