Hi, I'm Prerana.
A psychologist who believes in the wisdom you already carry.
I'm a Counselling Psychologist and Somatic Practitioner based in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. I work with adolescents, young adults and adults across India in person in Hyderabad, and online for clients across India and living abroad.
I came to psychology not because I had all the answers, but because I had a lot of questions about how we make sense of pain, how relationships shape us, and why some experiences stay with us long after they've passed. Those questions have never left me. They've just become more nuanced.

My work is grounded in the belief that people don't come to therapy broken. They come carrying experiences that were too heavy to hold alone, or patterns that once made sense and no longer do. My role is not to fix you ,it's to offer a space where you can begin to understand yourself differently.
I draw from evidence-based frameworks: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, person-centred practice, and somatic approaches. But more than any method, I work from relationship. The quality of the connection between us is what makes change possible.
I also offer culturally sensitive online therapy for Indians studying, working, or living abroad, with a deep understanding of the specific pressures of diaspora life, intergenerational dynamics, and the experience of living between cultural worlds
I work with clients aged 13 and above : teenagers finding their footing, young adults navigating relationships and life direction and adults working through anxiety, grief, or long-standing patterns. Wherever you are in that range, we start from where you actually are.
WHAT GUIDES MY WORK
Values I bring into the room
Non-judgement, always
Whatever brings you to therapy , the things you've done, felt, or been through ,you'll find a room without judgement. I mean that. Some of what people carry has never been spoken aloud. I consider it a privilege to be the first person who hears it.
Collaboration, not prescription
Therapy works best when it's something we do together, not something I do to you. I don't arrive with a fixed plan. I arrive curious about your experience, your strengths, and what kind of support actually feels useful.
The body matters
Emotions aren't just thoughts they live in the body. My somatic training means I pay attention to what your nervous system is telling us, not just your words. This is especially relevant for trauma, anxiety and grief, where the body often holds what the mind hasn't processed yet.
Affirmative by practice, not just statement
My commitment to queer-affirmative, culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive practice is woven into how I work, not just a policy I declare. Your identity is not a presenting problem. It is part of who you are, and it belongs in the room.
Your pace, your process
Healing isn't linear and it isn't fast. I don't believe in rushing people through frameworks because the next session slot is booked. If you need to circle back, slow down, or sit with something uncomfortable for a while that's part of the work.
